Although we’re still in the deepest grip of winter, one can begin to sense the days lengthening, and our thoughts and hopes turn to spring. I love to bring elements of springtime into our home and discover that cheerful, bright fabrics do a pretty good job. That is, until I can bring spring bulbs and flowering branches, such as forsythia into our house.

A bouquet of fresh daffodils adds colour and fresh, bright scents to the indoors.

For this cushion cover, I used a palette of cheerful greens, pink and orange; all of which were selected to work well with the delightful birdie fabric I had in my stash from an earlier project.

The main idea behind this quilted cushion cover pattern is a simple stripes grouping. I love stripes and gravitate towards them in garments and decor. I gained inspiration for this particular project from quilter Maria Shell and her article in the March/April 2018 issue of Modern Patchwork.

This cushion pattern uses a simple envelope enclosure on the back side. I chose the bright orange fabric for this. Orange is an underrated colour in my opinion. This fabric literally makes one feel cheery.

I sincerely hope you give this design a whirl yourself, and I value your feedback and comments.
